   THEATRE TROUPE "GLIUKAI"

Theatre troupe 'Gliukai' – adds variety to leisure time of people of different ages and sex. It   is involved in assisting in free-of-charge cremation of artists, making eternal wreaths, shooting arrows in Peru, painting gliders in Mexico and pushing submarines in China.






In 1984 – 1988 Benas Šarka studied at State Conservatory (currently Klaipeda University) Klaipeda Arts Faculty. He received Stage Director Diploma. In 1991 he worked in Klaipeda Music Centre (since 2005 Klaipėda Culture Centre 'Žvejų rūmai') as the Stage Director of the theatre 'Gliukai'.

Theatre project 'Ashes' ('Pelenai');
Motion performance 'Through-and-Through' ('Kiaurai');
Performance based on G. Grajauskas texts 'What Remains When Nothing is Left' ('Kas lieka, kai nieko nelieka') (screenplay author G. Labanauskaitė);
B. Šarka 'Holes and Dust' ('Skylės ir dulkės').






Staged performances:

1.      1988 – 'Kukutis Balads' ('Kukučio baladės') based on M. Martinaitis ballads of the same title (diploma work).
2.      1988 – 'Journey to Another World' ('Kelionė į kitą pasaulį') based on fairy tales of the Bretons.
3.      1989 – 'Om Mani...' ('Om mani...') based on Japanese mythology.
4.      1989 – 'Nostalgia' ('Nostalgija') B. Šarka one-act play.
5.      1990 – 'Tavern' ('Smuklė') based on I. Shungle.
6.      1991 – 'Oh, No Need...' ('Ah nereikia...') based on M. Martinaitis poetry.
7.      1992 – 'The Maids' ('Kambarinės'). Jean Genet play.
8.      1993 – 'White Home of Clouds' ('Balti debesų namai') based on G. Grajauskas and R. Rastauskas poetry.
9.      1995 - 'Chapel B' based on A. Mackus poetry.
10.    1996 – 'Soil' ('Dirvožemis'). Theatre project with the painter Stasys Eidrigevičius in Panevėžys Drama Theatre.
11.    1996 – 'Rats' Hymns' ('Žiurkių giesmės'). Theatre project with actors from Vilnius and Panevėžys.
12.    1997 – 'Keafri' based on G. Grajauskas poetry.
13.    1997 – 'A Glass' ('Stakan') based on seafarers 'black' poetry.
14.    1998 - 'Ko Ka Kola' based on G. Grajauskas poetry.
15.    2000 – 'Ashes' ('Pelenai'). Theatre-dance project.
16.    2000 – 'Leviathan' ('Leviatanas'). Theatre project.
17.    2001 – 'Foools' ('Moooliai'). Theatre project.
18.    2001 – 'If' ('Jeigu'). Theatre project during the poets' gathering 'Placdarmas'.
19.    2002 - 'Topor sosi' based on V. Sorokin play.
20.    2002 - 'Jūratė and Kastytis' ('Jūratė ir Kastytis'). Rock opera.
21.    2002 – 'White Bones' ('Balti kaulai'). Theatre project.
22.    2003 – 'Earth of the Sun' ('Saulės žemė'). Rock opera.
23.    2003 – 'Get well' ('Linkime pasveikti') based on G. Grajauskas texts.
