Folk
dance and song group 'Žilvinas' was established in 1948.
In
April 2008 the group marked its 60th anniversary by a grand event.
The
basis of the repertoire is authentic dances and songs of Klaipeda region.
The routes
of 'Žilvinas' concert tours cross many European countries.
The
group has won numerous awards in various competitions. The most prominent are
the following: 2001 'Golden Bird' ('Aukso paukštė') award for the best folk
dance and song group; in 2002 the vocal group won 'Golden Bird' ('Aukso
paukštė') for the best vocal ensemble.
The
group recorded three concert programmes on the Lithuanian Television, one-hour
concert programme on the German radio 'Deutsche Welle', vocal group recorded
CDs: in 2004 'Metamorphosis Klaipeda Style' ('Klaipėdietiškos metamorfozės'),
in 2007 'We Are Klaipeda Residents' ('Mes klaipėdiškiai').

programme – spectators have a possibility to learn Lithuanian folk dances and
