FOLK DANCE GROUP “VĖTRA” |

| |
Folk dance group 'Vėtra' ('Tempest') was established in 1986. Its founder and director is a choreographer Vilius Šleinius.
The director of the vocal folk group is Edmundas Jankus.
Members of the group – people of various professions united by their love for folk dances and folk music.
Dancers wear folk costumes characteristic only to Klaipeda region. The programme includes numerous dances of various characters – from lyric girls' dances to playful men's dances, cheerful compositions of couples’s dances.
'Vėtra' is twice the winner of the national competition 'Couple after Couple' ('Pora už poros') (in 1997 and in 2005), also twice the winner of the competition 'From Around' ('Iš aplinkui') (in 2000 and in 2002).
In 2000 the dance group was acknowledged the best amateur art group of the country and awarded 'Golden Bird' ('Aukso paukštė') prize.
Ensemble 'Vėtra' regularly participates in World Lithuanian song and dance festivals, international festivals in Lithuania and abroad.
