ABOUT THE CULTURE CENTRE "ŽVEJŲ RŪMAI"
The mission of the Culture Centre "Žvejų rūmai" is to foster the culture and traditions of amateur art, create favorable environment for artistic self-expression of town residents, meet and develop their cultural needs.
"Žvejų rūmai" provides possibilities for people of all ages to engage in artistic activities. It also administers and provides technical conditions for activities of amateur art groups.
"Žvejų rūmai" organizes national and town holidays, concerts of Lithuanian and foreign performers. It introduces professional and amateur art programmes of various genres to the town society.
"Žvejų rūmai" organizes performances of professional and amateur art groups in the county, country and abroad. It develops and implements educational programmes.
Culture Centre "Žvejų rūmai" traditionally organizes the following events:
Christmas celebrations for children,
International theatre festival "Mountain Ash" ("Šermukšnis"),
Also organized the following:
In 2002 – IV international choir festival of the Baltic and Nordic countries.
In 2008 – national festival of theatres for children and youth "Ice Titmouse" ("Ledinė zylutė"),
In 2008 – international festival "XII European Youth and Culture Week".
9 amateur art groups actively work in "Žvejų rūmai":
Mime theatre "A";
Youth theatre "No Doors" ("Be durų");
Theatre troupe "Gliukai";
KlaipėdaCastle (Pilies) theatre;
Elderly choir "Alna";
Chamber choir "Cantare";
Mixed choir "Klaipėda";
Folk-dance group "Tempest" ("Vėtra");
Folk-dance and folk-song ensemble "Žilvinas".
CC "Žvejų rūmai" art groups take active part not only in the cultural life of the town or the country, but international festivals and competitions as well. At the same time, gaining international acceptance and promoting Lithuania and Klaipeda.
